Music+Travel. Two things I love. Two things I will get to do this semester. Welcome to the journey!

i guess i should finish my australia post before i start my summer tour diary
well i am long overdue for the next part of my australian tour blog but i have to post something else first..
this is hard to believe but i just recently decided (like 2 seconds ago) that i really want to make it in the music business and i'm going to stop comparing myself to my peers and i'm going to start doing it my way. i've already done so many things different then them but i'm still trying to model my career moves after theirs..it is kinda like cheating ya know because i'm trying to make waves by following what they've done all these years and it led me to this point but then i realized, for being 20 (well, i guess soon to be 21) i've clocked in a lot..a LOT of internship hours while kids at my college are just now starting to intern. i've already been on not one but TWO major tours and can say i've toured overseas. on a stadium tour!!
what i'm saying is that i've been given so many opportunities right now and i am going to grab them and run. i'm not going to stop paying attention to what others around me are doing but what i've learned is to keep my friends close but my enemies closer. i don't have enemies really but i have people who are trying to get to where i am and aren't afraid to use me and hurt me for their own personal gain. this whole industry is filled with people like that. i won't say that i'm not immune to these tactics, i haven't hurt anyone yet but i've done something not so honorable once or twice in order to get ahead.
i am going to be a lot more proactive. i may not be getting a music business degree but i have the experience that matters. i'm going to educate myself by reading interviews given my managers and agents that i look up to and aspire to be and i'm going to be more proactive about finding people who will help me instead of just waiting for them to fall in my lap.
i'll let you know how it goes
the end.
