day in the life..

when i was on the road, a lot of people asked me what a day for me was like so for anyone else who may be curious, here it is:

i normally start the day around 10 or 11..mainly because we drive at night and so i like to sleep until we are in the city we're supposed to be in. if we get in a city at like 5AM i'll wake up earlier around 9 and i'll count the night before's merchandise settlement and make sure th emoney matches with the merchandise we sold. i just can't be awake too long on something moving..it makes me sick haha

i normally eat cereal for breakfast unless there is a rare occassion where everyone wants to eat brunch together like the time we went to portland and ate at Doug Firs..which was the best breakfast i had on tour.

load in is normally around 3PM. sometimes it can be as early as 1.

i load in all the merch and start on my displays and counting in..i take a long time cuz i'm a perfectionist so while it takes others an hour it normally takes me like 2-3 hours haha. but trust me..my displays are prreeetttyyy

i grab a sandwich unless the venue caters and then i grab whatever is on the buffet line or order my food...HOUSE OF BLUES had pretty great food :)

i work as soon as doors open. normally 6 or 7PM until around midnight or 1AM. then we load out and i'll see what everyone is up to for a few hours until i go to bed. i'm normally the first to go to sleep.

we stay up a lot to watch nirvana or hendrix or tom petty.

one of the greatest things i learned on this tour was the appreciation for classics. i learned about the music that inspired my favorite artists. i didn't get any of that growing up because my parents don't listen to music and growing up the only music i was exposed to was the radio. Top 40. those names were never mentioned by any of my friends or family members and i hadn't even heard of those names until i grew up and read it in magazines and even then it didn't interest me..now i love tom petty and nirvana and it was so great to be around musicians who were so in love with classic rock. and so greatful for the movements they were able to make due to these musicians' introduction into the world of music

tis all.
for now.

australia weeeeeeeeeeeeee!

it is okay that i had to pay for my flight there since everything else is covered.
i guess.

i hope i get to meet john mayer
i get to see what the behind the scenes at major festivals are!
i get to see how a stadium tour operates!
i'm not really merch girl anymore. my main job is street teaming and meeting all the australian teamers. i am also the american tm's assistant..whatever that entails. probably bitch work but i'll love every second of it!

i will keep you in the know.

cleveland, oh

it wasn't until last night that i truly realized the group of talented musicians that i am working with. i mean, i've always known but it didn't really hit me until last night. at the encore. being able to watch the faces of fans from the balcony. i am so sad that i'll be leaving soon. i'm going to australia with ben kweller but it'll be a different band. don't know what my plans are. i think i'm going to jfk to houston and stay at home for a week and a half and then head to australia. bahhh. oh well i can't complain really. funny how after i leave school i get things like president's list and get nominated for the falcon society..ahaha. with spring day plans on the loose i feel really out of the loop. at least housing is taken cared of for next semester but i'm so behind on things like financial aid and school work that i just wanna stay here. :(

anyways, better post about real tour soon. haha.
